LENS (Low Energy Neurofeedback System) is used to address numerous symptoms such as:
It also helps with Sleep issues, Focus, Concussions, Motivation, Self-Confidence, and Sports Performance.
The symptoms above are usually due to the brain being stuck or not fully flexible. Head trauma, emotional trauma, and even an accumulation of life stress can cause the brain to give up some of its flexibility as a type of defense mechanism or mental self preservation. Other times an issue is hereditary (often the case with ADHD or depression). In all cases the purpose of the LENS is to give the brain back greater flexibility.
Once brainwaves become unstuck, the brain becomes more flexible and better at self-regulation which in-turn minimizes dysfunction. The brain has an amazing ability to reorganize itself and relocate lost functions once the LENS has freed it up from its stuck patterns. After being successfully treated with LENS people find themselves gracefully moving through stressful situations for the first time. Often clients realize their improved response only when reflecting back on how much better they responded “this time” compared to how they mishandled the same situation “last time.”
Understandably, you’ll want to know exactly what happens when you come in for a LENS session…
Once in our office, you’ll sit in a comfortable chair while four very small sensors are placed: two on your ears and two are moved to different areas of your head.
The sensors are placed on different parts of your head while a small radio-frequency input (less energy than a digital watch; much less than a cell phone!) is delivered for only a few seconds in each position. You will feel nothing! If not for the soft tone at the beginning and end of the input, you wouldn’t know the treatment had even taken place.
There are 21 sites on the head to be treated. No more than seven sites are treated in any single session. Typically, I like to be able to treat each site 3 times, but everyone is different.
The first session lasts about 45 minutes; subsequent sessions last no more than 30 minutes. Through this simple method, the brain begins to quieten brainwaves associated with low performance and increase those associated with optimal brain function.
Many clients start to see results after their very first session, while most start to see significant changes within three to four sessions. How long you continue with the sessions is based on how quickly your brain waves shift to their new pattern. We recommend planning on at least 10 to 12 sessions; although that can change based on your personal experience. LENS is considerably faster to administer, and results are quicker to obtain than other traditional neurofeedback systems.
